In his interview for foreign media, Genti Strazimiri explained that after his car was searched, the police found nothing illegal and he described everything as a political provocation. The chairman of the PD Youth Forum, Genti Strazimiri, was held in the detention cells throughout the night and only yesterday morning was a meeting allowed with PD representatives. ON PAGE 2

All of December or the end of communism

The student uprising of December 1990 came in the second week of that month. Students and teachers from the "Studenti" district moved on Monday, 3 December 1990. The 4th was the first day of the demonstration against the communist regime. The students' protest became open during Wednesday, 5 December. Its escalation managed to bring about the end of the communist regime. The rally organized on 8 December in Studenti brought together hundreds of young people on an anti-government platform. There, for the first time, the demand for political pluralism and a market economy was outlined. On the evening of 8 December 1990, hundreds of students set off toward the city center. The clash with police and security forces marked the entry into a new stage of resistance to the regime. In the days that followed, the movement turned into a national process that brought about the fall of the political monopoly and the birth of pluralism in Albania.
